Abel Nyarko-Asomani

Abel Nyarko-Asomani is a Research Assistant at the Institute of Economic Affairs and is responsible for preparing short policy papers for publication, assisting in the preparation of survey instruments and assisting Senior Researchers in the Governance and Economics Policy Centres to write reports. His previous experiences include working as an intern at the Department of Economics, University of Cape Coast. He holds an MPhil in Economics from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana and a B.A. Economics and Sociology from the same university. Abel is a fellow at the Young African Leadership Initiative (YALI) and has also taken part in the Joint Facility for Electives (JFE) programme in 2016 which was organised by the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC) in Nairobi-Kenya.

Ewurama Wontumi

Ewurama Wontumi is an Administrative Assistant at the Institute of Economic Affairs. She assists in the enforcement of administrative procedures, manages the front desk and assists in the planning, coordination and execution of programmes and meetings of the institute. She also assists the Chairman of the Board of Directors with general administrative, hospitality and secretarial tasks. Prior to this, she worked as an Assistant HR and Admin. Officer at the Energy Commission. She holds a first degree in Political Science and Geography from the University of Ghana.


Harry Buadu

Harry Buadu is an Information Technology Officer at the The Institute of Economic Affairs. His work involves ensuring that the Institute’s data systems and networks are secured and running efficiently. He is also responsible for the day to day management and information governance of the Institute’s network. Harry is a network specialist for electronic business who holds a Higher National Diploma (HND) from Kingston University, UK. Before joining the IEA, Harry worked with GIT Solutions (IT Consulting Firm), Execsys IT Consultant UK, and DSG International UK.


Isaac Arrmah Essel-Barnor

Isaac A.E. Barnor is an Accountant at the Institute of Economic Affairs. A dynamic member of the Chartered Tax Accountants (CITA UK/ Ghana), he holds a Master of Business Administration (Accounting and Finance) from the University of Professional Studies, Accra, a Bachelor of Business Administration (Accounting) from Methodist University College, (affiliated to the University of Ghana) and a Diploma in Accounting from the Institute of Professional Studies (IPS). He has broad experience in finance management and treasury management and is a results-oriented team player with particular experience in grants management, preparation of final account taxation, setting up of account codes, auditing, cost management, internal control and training. With more than 18 years of experience behind him, Mr. Essel-Barnor previously worked as an Audit Manager with Beater and Associates and as an Accountant with Gentract Investment and, prior to that, with OGR Travel and Tours.


Samuel Bonsra Manu

Samuel B. Manu is a Research Officer at the Institute of Economic Affairs. He assists with research on macroeconomic policy and socioeconomic survey data analysis. Samuel has six years of experience in macroeconomic modeling and survey data analysis. Between 2018 and 2019, he was the Survey Coordinator at the Institute’s Survey Unit and was responsible for coordinating all survey activities including fieldwork, data analysis and survey report writing. His previous experience includes working as an Assistant Economist with the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), where he played a lead role in revising ECG’s electricity demand forecast models. He holds a B.A (Hons) and an MPhil in Economics from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, and is currently pursuing a Ph.D in Economics at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. His Ph.D research is on the topic “Macroeconomic and Welfare Implications of Foreign Exchange Intervention in Inflation Targeting Developing Economies”.


Venetia Asare

Venetia Asare is Programmes and Communications Officer at the Institute of Economic Affairs. She is responsible for organising the Institute’s advocacy engagements, aimed at facilitating dialogue towards policy reform. Her other roles include report writing, creating content for the Institute’s social media pages and working with reputable press houses to achieve coverage of IEA programmes and policy recommendations. Her previous experience includes working in the Multilateral Relations Bureau and the Inspectorate & Internal Audit Bureau, both at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Ghana. Venetia holds a B.A (Hons) in Politics and International Relations from the University of Kent, England.
