As part of its efforts to promote good governance and a sustainable economic development in Ghana, The Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA), will host a Public Lecture by Prof Justin Yifu Lin, former Senior Vice President and Chief Economist of the World Bank, and renowned Chinese Structural Economist.
Theme: “How to Achieve a Dynamic, Inclusive and Industrialised economy in Ghana: A New Structural Economics Approach”
Prof Lin will lay out a pragmatic approach required to jump-start a dynamic and sustainable industrialisation process in a country beset with poor infrastructure and an unfriendly business environment. He will outline how Ghana can capture the window of opportunity for industrialisation using China’s experience of economic transformation.
Prof Lin is currently the Director of New Structural Economics, Dean of the Institute of South-South Cooperation and Development, and Honorary Dean, National School of Development at Peking University. He is the Vice Chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, and a member of the Standing Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultation Conference. He is currently the Vice Chairman of China’s Economic Committee.
Prof Lin has authored 32 books including “Going Beyond Aid: Development Cooperation for Structural Transformation”; “Beating the Odds: Jumpstarting Developing Countries” and “New Structural Economics: A Framework for Rethinking Development and Policy”.
